Best as in safe. Is it the area by the fire station, church and oak park elementary school? It seem quiet when I was driving through

People more familiar should be able to help you out better, but the rule of thumb is south of El Cajon Blvd is to be east of 54th street, but obviously that can vary a bit. Not sure if you’re looking to buy, but 92115 is more desirable than 92105, especially from a resale perspective. Right or wrong, many people won’t even look at something west of 54th, or in 92105, but this is changing. Your best bet is to always park your car and walk around at night and see how you feel. Also drive with your windows down, and walk around during the weekends to get a real feel for the place. Even the worst neighborhoods can seem alright driving around Sunday night through Friday afternoon. Good luck

I live in Oak Park near Redwood and 53rd. I have not dealt with any crime or felt unsafe however there is a growing homeless population hanging around Colina Park and alot of trash and graffiti between down 54th street especially near University and 54th. There are some really quiet streets. My street is ok. I do like Laurel Street which is south of the library and the roads there are wide and trees line the street.

Down around the library is the nicer part. I would avoid the 54th / streamview area and the area down by the freeway and apartments.

I've lived in Oak Park for about five years, I live on a street off of Grape. The area is so convenient location wise and the neighbors really do look out for one another. I'm very happy to that we bought here. The area that you mention is great, another part I highly recommend is 55th and the blocks off it like Timothy and Fieger, or on the other side going up the hill where there are killer views of point Loma and the bridge.
