Hello,

I will be attending a concert soon at the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium. Coming from the South Bay, normally I would just take BART to get to downtown SF but I fully expect this concert to run late so unfortunately BART is not an option.

I'm not that familiar with the parking options around the Civic Center area. I know the Fifth & Mission garage well, but I would prefer not to make that long of a walk so late at night. Can anyone suggest some good garages to use fairly close to the Civic Center? I know it will be horribly expensive, but I just need something relatively safe and open 24 hours. Thanks!

Check SFpark

There are two big parking garages there. One is under the Civic Center, and there's the Performing Arts Garage at Gough and Grove. They both list limited hours (??) but I don't know what that means in the case of a parking garage. Maybe that's when there's an attendant there? I doubt you can't get your car back out and pay for it whenever.

Unfortunately both of those garages close between midnight and 1 AM, which doesn't help me. The Fifth & Mission garage is doable since it's open 24 hours a day but is pretty far from the Civic Center area. Any other suggestions? I was hoping someone would have first-hand experience with that area.

maybe you can park for free in the street along Van Ness after 6pm, as long as you park in a well lighted area like near the British Motor car / Jaguar dealer on Van Ness

make sure to check the signs in the area for no parking during certain hours for street cleaning, etc

Go on Yelp, there are a bunch of 24 hour places around civic center listed.

Another option would be parking west of Van Ness in Hayes Valley. Before 6pm you're probably not going to find a spot though, at least during the week.

Street parking should be fine at that time of night. It's just going to depend on how many other people drive.

Have you checked with the venue about the nearby lots they recommend?

I used to live 10-15 minutes walking from that area, I'd just park on the street. You should be fine especially if it's a concert night.

There should be a good amount of street parking at that time of day. Just don't leave anything visible in your car. Not valuable things, but anything. People in this city will bust your window even to get a handful of pennies or some useless junk, and that area is kind of bad for car break-ins (including some parking garages, such as the 4th and Mission one).
