Hi,
I wanted to find out if anyone has any feedback regarding the best temp agency (or agencies) in the City to work with. I am looking for an agency with opportunities in administrative work (clerical, reception, general administrative and customer service). I found Maven Recruiting, it has pretty good reviews. Has anyone had experience with this agency? Any suggestions on how to find temp work quickly? I have already gotten the advice - apply to all of them!

Thanks in advance,
oceanpoetry

The best one is the one that gets you a job. Definitely just apply to all the ones that provide jobs in your field, and try to push for an in-person interview with them, I find that if they just quiz you on the phone and have you email them your resume, they'll never get back to you about anything because they're just trawling for the nonexistent perfect resume.

do a search of temp or employment agencies on Yelp and see what others say. There seems to be quite a lot.

I think @allen's suggestion is excellent. I was just curious and, sure enough, if you type in "temp agency" and search in San Francisco, you'll get some rankings and reviews.

I temped when I took a leave from grad school and did pretty well. However, I'm so far out of the temping loop now that I have no idea if the agencies I used still exist much less how good they are. All that all I can offer are the anecdotes that you've already heard.

Go to them in person, so that you maximize your chances are being placed. Once you get placed and are a good fit with an agency be professional on the jobs. That way you're a money maker for them and they'll keep sending you out.
