I received a letter from Franchise Tax board stating that I owe them TAX. I called them to find out and they said you owe TAXES from companies A, B and C.

The problem is that my husband provided my SSN to work free lance for companies A, B and C since he was not a citizen or green card holder. He filled joint TAXES in TEXAS.

I have nothing to do with company A, B and C since it is software development and my husband just used my SSN because he was not a citizen.

What can I do about this complicated situation?

If you don't want to get in trouble, and/or you don't want your husband to get in trouble, then just pay the taxes.

It's not legal to use someone else's SSN.

If you'd like your husband to go to jail, you can turn him in. If you don't want him to go to jail, pay the taxes, keep your mouth shut, and stop talking about your situation on the internet.

So your husband fraudulently used your SSN and then you falsly claimed to have earned the money in Texas since there's no income tax there and you're looking for advice. Interesting thread, I must admit.
