Just wondering if there are any U-Cut East Bay Christmas Tree Farms in the East Bay...

I contacted my family favorite and the drought took a toll so projecting 2018 for U-Cut to be again available.

Like to take the kids and make a half-day out of it...

Any suggestions?

Much appreciate the link!

I have been going to the tree farm in Lafayette/Martinez but U-Cut trees are slim pickings this year...

These Christmas tree farms in these parts of California are always a bit of a crapshoot, since they are planting those trees out of their natural habitats and having to give them a ton of water. They usually don't carry the really nice varieties that come from Oregon either. Really, the most beautiful trees are going to be the Oregon Imports. But I imagine it must be fun to cut your own.

The kids really enjoy it and it tends to mark the start of the Christmas/Holiday season.

The last 4-5 years have been difficult with the drought.

We have friends that find really nice trees in Santa Cruz Mountain farms... but it is a little far to go.

I read there is short supply from Oregon... yet the tree lots at the Mall are advertising trees from $19.95... of course that is just to get you in.

Ended up going back to Alhambra in Martinez... did find a tree for the kids to cut... just a few leftovers in areas they replanted.

The owners had two adorable baby cows and I had to pry the kids away as they loved petting the cows.

The farm had hundreds of fresh cut trees in water but we held out for a u-cut and let the kids decide.

On the way home I had to explain there was no way we could get a cow for a house pet!

Sorry, but I have to disagree. The kids are right: With enough commitment and sacrifice, you too can have a cow as a house pet. Looks like you're just not (about to be brought to court to be) committed.

It took years to get a zoning approval for 4 hens... no roosters allowed.

Sometimes I think I would be more adjusted to the country life...
