If you're ever up in the East Bay, check out Jupiter in Berkeley. I've been there a couple times and I really enjoyed their kolsch beer that I tried my last time there. It gets pretty crowded with college kids though. Pyramid and Triple Rock have breweries with pubs in Berkeley too.

Beer Fridays at Devil's Canyon Brewery in Belmont, on the peninsula. Warehouse in the middle of nowhere, once-a-month pouring + BBQ parties with good music. Bring home a few growlers. They also teach you how to brew your own, and let you use their equipment on their site.
