Hi there,

I was looking for information on a "boutique" hotel in downtown San Jose run by someone named Tom Adams and his wife. It has 40-42 rooms; he described it as "not very big" when I spoke with him on the phone. He interviewed me over the phone for a live-in position at his hotel, but would not disclose the name or exact location which gave me reason to doubt the hotel's authenticity. He also asked if, during my job, I was comforting a customer who had a bad day or whatever, I would go so far as "please" them. I thought that was rather unprofessional of him. Does anyone know anything about this hotel? Any info would be appreciated.

Err...um...sure.

One would like to believe that this post was for real, just to hear the entertaining reasoning and logic, but...no.

Haha, this is for real. Or, at least, in my mind. I don't know if that place is real or not, hence why I'm looking for answers.

Well then, not really real, no?

This post is real. The hotel, perhaps not. I wouldn't be asking strangers for information otherwise. I'm not looking for people to critique my post. I want information.

Sounds perfectly legit to me. In today's miserable economy, more and more landlords are accepting alternate forms of payment rather than evict their deadbeat tenants. If you have deft lips, smooth hands, and a nice smile you may get quite a break, and if you have a killer figure, you may find you can live for free and even get paid a little on the side for quite a while..

Why would you want to work for any employer who asks that kind of question and who wouldn't reveal the property name.

I wouldn't. It was one of those "too good to be true" situations. I've ignored all phone calls from the guy since the initial one. I'm not one of those girls who wants to sell her body in order to have a place to stay. My life is bad, but not that bad.

I also believe it's kinda fishy to not reveal the name or location of the place. While saying it's because you don't want people to just waltz in and say, "Hey, I'm here for the job" is understandable, you'd think the hotel managers would WANT more publicity for their hotel. More publicity = more money.

Maybe sounds "legit", but definitely not legal.

Sure. He wants somebody to work for him and on him. The optimistic entrepreneur.
