For occasional carpooling?

I have not found anything except for carmapool app dynamic match over internet which to me is practically useless. But I wonder if there is a place anywhere in Santa Clara County between Redwood City and San Jose and between North San Jose and East Bay for express lanes (I-237).

I live in Sunnyvale.

I work in Menlo Park and leave around 6pm and it terrible pisses me off when once I reach mountain view and HOV expands to 2 lanes, they move fast while I sit stuck. In the morning I don't have HOV restrictions because I leave after 9pm, but traffic northbound toward Marsh rd is always terrible on all lanes until I reach Palo Alto.

Right now to get around it, I plan my work schedule to leave work after 6:30 so once I get into highway its 6:50, I often can in 10 min use left lanes once I reach Mountain View to skip couple miles.

Maybe someone has better idea for my commute? I wish I lived closer or they already opened HOT lanes on US101. But my lease is not expiring till end of this year then I can look may around closer north. But prices Yikes. Apartments often cost as much as in Mountain View, Sunnyvale but here in Silicon Valley I have more choices for apartments.

I've never heard of a "casual carpool" site in the South Bay (that's what we call in the Bay Area, are you from DC?). Casual carpools usually form near rapid transit stations, such as BART, express bus. If a casual carpool site ever forms around here I would guess it would be near a Caltrain station.
