Lots of cars everywhere, both moving and stopped.
Lots of different languages spoken wherever you go.
Bums go through my recycling bin on a daily basis now.
Other than that, it's quiet at night.
It sometimes gets really hot for a day or two, but never stays uncomfortable for long.
Rainy season December to March, pretty dry otherwise.
Very high rent but pretty small utility bills.

It is big, bigger than any city in the Bay Area. The city limits spread through a HUGE portion of the southbay so you are always feel like you are in in SJ. This means that there are many different areas of the city with different vibes. The West Side of SJ is dominated by SHOPPING straight up by Valley Fair and Santana Row. The west side is surrounded by Cupertino, Santa Clara, Saratoga which are real suburbs of San Jose (independent cities that are definitely in SJ's sphere of influence kind of like LA and its surroundings). The Eastside, Southside, and Downtown have there own flavors too.

It is a very beautiful and pleasant place to live. The weather as mentioned above is hands down the best in the Bay Area... Very much the stereotypical California weather with lots of sunny skies and comfortable/warm temperatures for most of the year. It is surrounded by the Diablo Range in the east and the Santa Cruz Mts. in the West, which set a very nice backdrop to the city (also provide nice ways to get up above the city and there area also nice neighborhoods on the foothills).

In short, I love it.
