Water, Trash, Sewer, Gas, Electric bills Oh MY! (Santa Fe: apartments, how much) - New Mexico (NM) -Santa Fe County - City-Data Forum

So, we have lived in Santa Fe for about 8 months now and I have a pretty good idea about what the average electricity bills runs for an apartment.

My husband and I have become super unhappy with our current apartment situation. We've begun to look for new places and I think apartments in Santa Fe within a decent price range are few and far between.

We did, however, find one place that might work with a little pinch here and there. However, we were informed that residents in that community are required to pay Water, Trash, Sewer, Gas and Electric! Yikes!

I realize that all these things depend on personal use, but does anyone out there have a good handle on what the averages are? Just as soon as I thought I might have found an affordable place, utilities will jack it up to the price of every other place in Santa Fe!

Otherwise, if there is anyone else out there on the hunt just like me? I'd appreciate hearing your thoughts and things you have found. We are looking for something CLEAN and QUITE. We do not qualify for this "MAXIMUM income requirment" business that I think is a complete joke.

Water, trash and sewer are all combined. My bill runs about $40 a month. I have a 1200 SF townhouse and live alone. Gas bill right now is running about $20 a month but will go up to about $80-$100 depending on usage. Electric is about $30 a month. I'm not home much and I don't use my furnace a lot during the winter. Would rather bundle up and I can't sleep at night with the furnace running...can't breathe. Say during the winter...$200-$250 depending on gas usage. The rest of the time about $100 or so. It all depends on size on apartment and usage.

Wow! Thank you SO much! You have no idea how much that helps! I asked a coworker the same thing and she came up with pretty much exactly what you said. Having a wood burning fire place will help save gas $$ in the winter! I'm scared to say it..but..I think we're moving!...AGAIN!
