Blueherons. People on section 8 do pay rent - that is the whole point of the program - you pay 1/3 of your income. Driving a car with your belongings in the trunk doesn't cost a lot of money and the whole reason I am moving here is for work. Maybe try googling and learning about the program before making judgements or posting comments. You might learn something interesting or useful.

If you would reread my original post, you would see where I said I wasn't trying to be ugly, I didn't understand the program.

That being said, why don't you try working a couple of jobs and paying rent instead of mooching off the government?

I had THREE jobs in order to pay my rent and student loans. I had a 9-5 job Monday through Friday, I cocktail waitressed Friday and Saturday nights, and taught aerobics four times a week.

Why don't you try the same?

trish94, you will never win when arguing with the elite, or those that think they are elite. you will never measure up. all you can hope is that some day you make it to where you can live on the east coast with so little to do that you can harass people on city data. this was just generally speaking and not directed at any one individual.

I just cant see moving for a part time job. Moving for a full time job, there you go! But a part time job? Hrm. You can get those anywhere.

Perhaps op is disabled in some way, and a part time job is all she is physically or mentally capable of having.
We don't all have the same circumstances.

But you all knew that already, of
course.

I didnt make any assumptions. Maybe the OP has had their arms and legs bitten by fire breathing dragons. Or they are the child of the Easter Bunny and cant get a fulltime job because of funny ears. I dont make assumptions because usually they are wrong.

IMHO this thread is getting needlessly negative. Jeez--its the Christmas season. Can't we all just get along?

Almost none of this thread is addressed to the OP question.
