So I'm reading you have 14 foot waves right now.
After bad storms the surfers always tend to hit the beaches.
Surfers are so intrepid. I have watched them surf off the Jersey coast on Christmas Day.
I would bet money they are out there right now.

My wife has kept in contact with her coworkers. They are all OK. But no power. It may be a lot shorter time out of power then we thought. I hope so. Still out at my house.

Most responsible residents of Sarasota aren't out surfing my friend. Most of us have been helping our neighbors, family and community, or cleaning up ourselves. No body cares about people who find the time and energy to "surf" after a massive and deadly event. Get real

In the lead-up to the storm, I didn't see anybody out surfing or talking about the great waves. People were literally scared to death, even the long-time locals who have been through many hurricanes. No one cared about surfing, dude....
