We're moving to Bradenton pretty soon and probably will be living around 47th St West.
Is it a good area? or should i check another area to live?
(I have 2 kids under 3)

Thanks in advance

The neighborhood will vary depending upon what part of 47th St you are talking about, but I can't think of any of the areas that would worry me. South of Cortez Rd is mostly apartments but there may be some condo's back in there, and they are bordered by some pretty nice developments.

Between Manatee Ave and Cortez Rd the neighborhoods should be fine, there are several smaller neighborhoods withe the two golf courses breaking it up.

North of Manatee Ave should be pretty nice as well, but I can't say that I've been through the entire neighborhood.

These aren't gated communities, but I certainly wouldn't fear for my families life in any of the areas that 47th passes through.

I'm familiar with that area. It's just south of Cortez road; there's a number of apt. communities that sprung up over there...Looks nice, my xbf's aunt lives in that area.

I haven't heard too much about it; pics on the web look nice. You're about 10/15 min. to the Cortez bridge to Anna Maria Island.

My oldest son has friends in the apartment complex on the other side of 47th from Palm Cove. Seemed pretty quiet when we have been there in the evenings to drop off / pick up our son.

Yes, built my home in Holmes Beach on the bay!! You've got Publix at 59th & Cortez, a great italian restaurant in the same plaza, can't think of the name but it's been there for over 19 years, you're 5 miles to the island & less than 5 miles to DeSoto Mall. There's a TJ Maxx, Marshall's, Best Buy & your basic necessities in good proximity. Just be very careful, it pays to be safe in B'town.

What do you mean about it pays to be safe?
You're talking about all the stores next to me?

Those stores are within a five mile radius, but the crime seems to be escalating in town. For more information, you can read The Bradenton Herald online. Lived out on the island(s): Perico & Anna Maria as well as west Bradenton.
