Is Matthew going to sideswipe us or come ashore?

We are watchful, but do not expect to alter our lifestyle much. We have a generator, gas, water, and a gas grill, and can go for a few days if we must.
We have some company here who live in NC, so they may gear their trip home according to the weather.

Tybee Island was very windy today, water was super choppy. Two helicopters were circling during most of the afternoon. I guess it's 50-50 whether it hits or side swipes. I read that several schools are closed until Monday.

Hoping you guys don't get hit too hard!

Curious if folks wouldn't mind sharing after - areas prone to flooding from storms similar to this one, how long any internet, cable or power outages (on average) are, etc. We're moving to the area and curious.

Stay safe!

Wouldn't that depend on if your house flooded.

Most of the City of Savannah is good to a category 3, you can check the flood maps if you have specific questions. My house is good for a low tide to middle tide cat 4 or a high tide category 3. It might get iffy for a category 4 high tide.

If we get hit direct head on most of houses are gone, as a Strong category 3 will pretty much knock our houses down.

Our kids, and two dogs, are staying in River St. For a few days. Do idea why, but they will be boosting the local economy.

I was in Home Depot today on "regular" business and never saw so much plywood ( for windows) being bought. It was similar to run on bottled water. Sheets of 4 x 8 going out the door like they were giving it away.

DH works at HD in Pooler. They had sold 60 generators by 10 am yesterday. The joke around the store is, how many will get returned next week.
