Sounds like an interesting plan...

Quote:
The city is planning to transfer almost $2 million in funds leftover from an abandoned plan to restore the pharmacy building on Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard. The city demolished the building in 2014 after finding it was structurally unsound and the plan is now to sell vacant lot left behind.

The proposed budget amendment going before the Savannah City Council on Thursday would provide more than $1.4 million towards the completion of a new Savannah police station being built along MLK to serve the Central Precinct. In addition, up to $500,000 of the pharmacy project funds would go towards the restoration of a late 19th century home on the corner of West 34th Street and MLK immediately south of the police station.

Well I guess we can assume that in order to have police sleep where they work the rent would be a no charge. You say "You're kidding" I say why would anyone want to live next to the police station on MLK unless it was for free?
