Family and I have been using this entrance to the mall since forever. Lots of memories shopping here too with family as a kid.

Sad to see it go for the sake of nostalgia but knew it was only a matter of time.

I know this was sort of discussed last year in a thread about the leasing space and what not. But made a new thread since the news is official.

Figured this was only a matter of time, guess I need to go buy some tools while they are on discount.

I also got accustomed to using them as the 'mall entrance'. I'm sad to see them go. It feels like end of an era, just like when KMart down the street closed down. I wonder how they will re-develop it.

If I was the mall I would heavily court Costco or a movie theater complex with all the updated stuff like food & Imax...

Eddie Lampert’s real estate trust owns the building. It was one of the ones leveraged to Sears to help regain profitability. I’ve seen plans for it to be redeveloped as open air space similar to Augusta Mall. My guess is the recently announced H&M will be one of the tenants in that space.

I shudder to think what the White Bluff/Abercorn intersection and its immediate area would become if a really popular store or stores were to go into that spot.

Comedian Ron White will be glad to hear that the adjacent auto center (which he made famous in a routine) will also close. Of course the wheels have been coming off Sears for years--he was just ahead of the curve, so to speak.

Eisenhower Cinemas also closed down the beginning of this month.

So it truly has been the end of an era for nostalgia.
