Yes, to some degree jack. Charging circuits in any device used to charge nicad or Nickel Cadium (ni-cd) batteries by design are NOT safe to charge nickel metal hydride batteries (NI-MH) batteries. Do they work? Yes, to some degree but bursting due to overheating could occur if overcharged. I would suggest some newer phones already designed with replaceable NI-MH batteries or the newer tech now is Lithium Ion batteries (LI-ION) which have little wasted heat during recharge cycles and less time required and higher mili-amp per hour ratings and no memory effect that nicad batteries have.
