Anyone know if these apartments are okay? The area?

Plum Tree
200 SW 5TH PLACE
Renton, WA 98055
Plum Tree Park in Renton WA - Apartments for rent - Equity Apartments

I've been to the walmart right down the street and don't remember anything terribly bad about the wally-world area. The google maps were a bit of a help, but not enough. I'm out of state so I can't go check myself.

Oh, it's maybe a tiny bit scuzzy, but not out and out scary or dangerous. Closer to Fred meyer than Walmart, and Hardie street which intersects 5th is pretty busy, but it's a very convenient location, in terms of proximity to buses, restaurants and shops, etc.

No, it's much, much nicer than White Center and most of Burien. Much nicer. I think the minor icky factor is the just the density of population right there with lots of cars and people, but i don't really think it's dangerous, just not a quiet location..
And in terms of convenience, it really can't be beat. You can easily walk to Fred Meyer or supermarkets or Mexican restaurants, espresso, etc. It's not bad, just kinda busy, and there's at least one other big apartment complex right there as well...In terms of appearance, the Plum Tree buildings look pretty nice.
If White Center gets an 8 on the ickiness factor, this part of Renton gets a 2.

On the related topic of Renton apartments, I don't know how long this link will work, but I thought this was kinda interesting, about the Liberty Square complex.

'Everyday' people can afford to rent at Renton's Liberty Square

Having driven by a number of times, I had no idea that this nice-looking building was affordable housing. Which says a lot for the project.
