I wanted to purchase some Lincoln Logs, which were some of our favorite toys when we were kids. My brothers and I built huge, elaborate mansions with our combined collection of Lincoln Logs. At other times we built cabins, stores, forts or just walls that we would build as high and as long as we were able.
So I went to Sam's Club and found a display of Lincoln Logs. I picked up a large box and couldn't understand why it was so light. Guess what? The logs were made of cheap PLASTIC! Who ever heard of plastic LOGS??
I looked at some Barbie play sets. They have been cheapened as well, with most of the food in the toy refrigerator merely cardboard. The same for the Barbie Pet Shop and Barbie Restaurant, many of the accessories were cardboard cutouts. The pet shop had cardboard pets. Nice.
I purchased a board game and all the markers and game pieces were cardboard. They were all on one sheet of cardboard, and you had to punch them out along the dotted lines before you played. This game used to have plastic and metal game pieces!
How I wish that I had saved all the toys from my childhood!
