The transparent tape is much more popular now, than the old brown stuff. Is it because it lasts longer? Or it looks nicer?

I've had problems with the transparent when it's time to take some off the roll and I can't find the endpoint!

I know the brown tape disintegrates after a while, especially if exposed to the sun.

IDK... as far as I am concerned, they serve different purposes.
The clear is packing tape.
The beige is masking tape.

Where are you using it?

Are you talking about clear or tan MASKING TAPE or clear or brown PACKING TAPE? And are you talking paper or plastic (excuse the pun)?

AFAIK brown and clear are packing tape. Masking tape is usually beige, blue, or green.

Try a good, quality vacuum cleaner for that. They are very effective.

Lint rollers are good for removing hair from clothing, especially as the cat and dog brush up against your black pants as you walk out the door.

My vacuum has no attachments so I can't do corners or narrow areas.

you put the tape on the bottom of the vacuum?

makes sense if your vac has wheels and you can roll it around the carpet

No, I use a vacuum to clean my carpets, while the OP uses tape.
