Is there such a thing as a black sock that doesn't get a hole in the big toe 3 months after purchase?

I thought this forum could use a practical question instead of the usual "my city is better than yours".

Trim the toenails!!!!!! File the top of the nail, if it is too thick--that can "rub" a hole in a sock (and shoe, too!)

It is for men, and my big toe nail is trimmed.

Is it just me? I thought this was a common problem and sock quality is down, but maybe my toe has issues.

My guys don't have this issue - never have. I always assumed it was a problem w/ toenails being too long and rubbing on shoes - and perhaps - shoes being too short so the toe gets rubbed, LOL.

Now, the brand they wear is Gold Toe. That is ALL they wear as far as dress socks.

LOL - I think your toe does have issues and/or you buy cheap socks. (I buy cheap socks also though....female here). Maybe your toe needs to seek counseling

Maybe that one wears out most because it's rubbing up against the shoe all day. I get that too.

I used to buy cheap socks but have switched to better quality socks thinking I would save money buying better socks that last longer. The last batch I ordered were industrial versions with beefy lining on the toes. But only after a few months, the same ol' big toe hole is there and every morning I have to search the socks and hope to find ones with no hole or minimal hole, and now I fear airport security and Japanese restaurants.

I'll focus the mystery on my toes and shoes instead, thanks for the help.
