Is it as great as I read about and see videos? Can it really make soups/juice, desserts, dips, butters, and all without breaking within a couple of years?
I know it's very pricey so I need to do research before buying one.
I have an old one I bought at an auction. I don't use it very often--mainly for grinding/milling grains like whole wheat flour. I ground up some whole flax seed recently and it worked great for that.
I have one and use it quite often, Raven1976. I bought it about 7 years ago, and it has to be said that blenders and immersion blenders have come along way since then (especially with the ability to make smoothies). I will tell you that this has lasted the test of time and through some good steady, use. It is still working as well as when I bought it. Just give some thought to what you are going to use it for. While I use to use it for making soups, I have instead fallen in love with me immersion blender!
Yes these new Vitamixes look amazing. I was watching demonstration videos. I would use it at least twice a day if I had one. I just have to investigate whether it's any cheaper on Costco or buying it from them directly.
My sister bought one last year about this time. We have used that machine alot. We mill grains for breads, corn for cornbread, made soup, etc. We have a huge veggie garden and used the vitamix to help process veggies for canning and freezing.
If this is what I saw being demonstrated at Costco yesterday, it's over $300. Seems like the guy made some fruit-freeze-ice cream in just a few seconds....said the blades won't cut you....and then made some kind of vegetable juice, (it was brownish-greenish and looked nasty but he said it was healthful---maybe it had beet greens in it, I can't remember, but even little kids were taking it from him and drinking it).....and then he hit an empty one with a hammer and said it was like bullet proof glass....
I had no idea they'd been on the market for that long........wow!
How would you guys compare the Vitamix to the Health Master (Montell Williams endorsed)?
