I would hope Shreveport is smarter on the standing against the encroaching methods of Walmart, and don't allow them to set up these new models in communities all over the city.
Walmart has devastated much over the many years its been here, therefore we need to review the past losses and not make similar mistakes for the future.

We need to think broader and consider what impact this has on peoples lives and community stability. Walmart never met the elements they claim to provide. Certainly not good pay, and often the instability in number of working registers. Sadly, too many who get their time consumed, result to rely on other assistance as well as these are the low pay situations which drive people to get twisted up with Pay Day Loans and high interest vehicle loans and many other things which are frequently within low wage environments.

We need to study carefully the results of what Walmart brings and what it takes away from the communities and business growth in the city and its communities.
Quote:
Walmart opens its first Neighborhood Markets in Northwest Louisiana in two locations Wednesday.
The smaller stores that focus heavily on groceries will open on Shed Road in Bossier City and at the corner of Highway 120 and Obrie Street in Zwolle. Ribbon-cutting ceremonies are set for 7 a.m. and 7:30 a.m., respectively.
The Bossier City store will operate 24 hours and employs 95, while the Zwolle location has set daily hours and creates 30 new jobs.

It certainly is not an American Product Friendly Establishment. It is a high promoter of Chinese goods, which ultimately diminishes the potential for American Industrial Growth in both small industry and large industry production.

Imagine if 80% of its products were produced in American, We'd have a far better performing Industrial Commodities output.
But the "claimed" low prices, cost us tremendously in collateral losses which ultimately result to cost us twice if not quadruple as much. It means money does not circulate within our city, it goes to Walmart Corporate establishment.
The results we see is bad roads, poor and stressed commercial business and many many closed community business that were once family owned.
This results to take funds often generated by small business within communities out of the equation.
We result to see a decline in man areas of our communities and city, as a result of the Delusions sold to us by Walmarts false claims when it seeks to enter and then dominate cities.

The flip side to Wal-Mart is that it creates a climate of economic stability. They aren't just selling cheap crap. They are providing jobs, benefits, etc. as well. It's the same thing I tell people who hate Nissan for not being "American". They employ Americans to sell them, service them, stock them, ship them...
