We had originally been looking at two different options for the 4th of July. Well, we'd decided on one of them, but I absolutely refuse to pay $475 for two nights in a motel and all the medium priced ones are full.
SO, does Sx. Falls have anything going on the 4th? Are you having a parade or anything? Fireworks at the Falls?
Lennox has a parade in the later part of the morning and has a 4th of July celebration in the park afterwards. There are food stands, crafts, and music. There has been a car show for many years also. The city also has a fireworks show at night.
Although it is a local parade with many area businesses, churches, and other organizations participating, it draws quite a few people from out of town.
Jammie, They have the annual "Picnic with the Mayor" at Falls Park from 10 am - 2 pm... The first few 5000 people or so get a free lunch.
I am almost positive there is some sort of parade downtown..
As for fireworks, I think the Jaycees shoot them off from the W.H. Lyon Fairgrounds.
Sorry, I'm not much help... I'm usually out of town for the 4th
Thanks for the suggestions. I'd kind of feel like a party crasher to barge in on the free lunch thing since I'm from out of town. We may just go over and have a relaxing day at the Falls.
Is the Lennox car show July4th? We went down to it once and it was a pretty neat thing to see. They literally had hundreds of beautiful cars there.
If anyone reads anything about a parade over there, please let me know.
Yes, Sioux Falls does have a parade on the 4th of July. I am sure it's well attended as most parades in town are. The town of Inwood, Iowa, also has a big 4th of July bash--it's a 30 minute drive from Sioux Falls. Parade in the morning, 5K run (I'm thinking about doing that this year--for the first time), mud volleyball, craft fair, demolition derby at night, and fireworks. For more information, go to Inwood Iowa community website | Inwood Iowa community website Just thought I'd throw out another option out at you. Living in Sioux Falls for the past four years, I have never been in Sioux Falls for the 4th--I've gone to Lake Madison, Pickstown, and Inwood. I am sure that most anywhere there's stuff going on, though.
Oh, that sounds wonderful. Anyone have any idea what time the parade in Sx. Falls starts? I have an ulterior motive to just go to Sx. Falls. I want to pick up some concert tickets.
