Hi guys, this should be a short thread if anything but I've always been pretty good at street ball and there are some leagues that compete here in LA. I noticed some vacancies and I was thinking of jumping on it part time. Before I go dreaming, I wa just wondering how far one can take competitive futsal in the US, especially at my age? I'll be 30 next March but I'm in good shape. I noticed a lot of futsal players are quite old and still playing. I'm sure they've been playing for years but I was just curious.
Anyways, it was just something on my mind. I really just want to play for fun but if there was a chance I would like to know if it was a feasible dream?
Is true Futsal even played in the US? I did not know. Futsal is very popular in Brazil, but it is different from the futsal I have seen here in the US. The US has a different, lighter ball, larger field with no off lines on the sides.

That sounds like indoor soccer not futsal. I'm wondering if there are even clubs in the US.

I don't think US has a futsal league. Most people don't know it even exists I used to play futsal, some soccer players in Brazil start their careers in futsal clubs (Ronaldinho).

I think there are leagues but the teams are not full fledged clubs like they are in Spain, Italy or Brazil.
I was just wondering if it was too late to join and compete at age 30? I see that a lot of futsal players are in their mid to late 30s and still going strong.

It depends how fit you are of course, but I don't see any problems. Falcao (Brazil) is 37 and still playing nicely.

That's what I'm thinking too. I know a few others in their mid 30s playing just fine. My fitness level is excellent. I don't smoke or drink and have kept in shape. My soccer level was always good too as I played club soccer as a kid and varsity high school. I've always been good at the sport but excelled at street ball and short scrimmages, that's why I'm interested in futsal.
I know the are older players in futsal cus its less strenuous but is it because those players played for years?
I will join a league regardless but was wondering how far I could take it at my age and being in the US.
