If the United States wins the bid and becomes the host city for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, do you think the US should follow what Brazil did by greatly improving its infrastructure all across the country? Meaning that do you think the United States should spend billions of dollars on things like new stadiums, improving roads, building new subway systems, bus-rapid transit, fixing deficient bridges, etc.

The US wouldn't need to do all that. Our infrastructure could definitely be improved. But we wouldn't have to do anything to the extent of what Brazil did. As far as our stadiums go, we don't need a building boom there either. With the exception of Los Angeles, we already have modern, world cup ready stadiums in all the major cities across the country.
We have enough stadiums, but, for example, it would be a great excuse to improve/upgrade/extend mass transit, such as the el in Chicago. Things that would be a good use of money anyway, in my opinion. I voted yes, so but obvioulsy not to th extent of Brazil.
We already have the hotels, commercial districts and transportation network in place. Our stadiums are large and in charge. The MLS has lots of relatively new facilities like the Seattle one, the one in Harrison NJ, and what not, or we could even go with the football stadiums.
We could host every major global sporting event no problem. If we did Olympics we could just spread it around a few close cities like in the Northeast.

Mass transit in most major US cities are terrible. Not every city is like NYC, Chicago, and Philadelphia when it comes to transportation.
