I was planning on moving to Hilton head area but may have a job opportunity on Lady's island. Is life comparable in the two areas? Is Lady's island as Beautiful as Hilton head? Are there shops and restaurant options? Would you suggest that area or some city in between the two (they are about 1 hour apart)?
Lady's island is a part of Beaufort separated by two bridges (in different locations). Where HHI is more resort orientated, LI is more residential without the plantations. LI has no ocean access, closest would be Hunting Island State Park about 12 miles down the road. If you are looking for resort type living with ocean access, I would suggest Fripp Island about 18 miles, just past Hunting Island, away. There are some families there, but the majority of full timers are retireies.
There is shopping, strip malls, not any clothing stores however, but Beaufort is easy access for that. There are a number of restaurants on LI.
Yes LI is beautiful, different from HHI though. LI is surrounded by rivers, and salt marshes. The main road is nothing special as that is where you will find all the stores and restaurants, but get off the main road and you will find some beautiful neighborhoods.
