One of the great things about living in SC and the South as a whole-great church suppers. Just today I went to a church supper .We had fried chicken , mashed potatoes ,mac and cheese, corn bread and dinner rolls with banana pudding and lemon meringue pie for dessert and sweet tea to drink. I lived out in the far west for a year back in the mid 90s and not being able to get southern cooking for a year has made me appreciate it more ever since.

It didn't hurt that it was at my mothers church(she was brought up Methodist-I was baptized Catholic) but they are free. Now sometimes they will sell hot dog or bar be que plates but the price is reasonable.
