I recall that when I was dropped off at FMU back in the early 1990s for college with no car.. That first weekend on campus 90% of the students went home since most lived within 50 miles of the campus at that time.. If I had a gun and a bottle of vodka I would have taken my own life for excitement. That is how boring and dead I thought Florence was.. The City has come a looooong way since then as has FMU.. but those early 90s weekends at the beginning of my first semester are engraved in my memory....
