I am looking for living relatives or somebody who knows relatives of the late Olans H. Northeg. Olans was born in Nannestad, Norway and emigrated to America in 1861. He became a sergeant in the 7th Cavallery, and participated in the battle of Little Bighorn under general Custer. He died on November 5, 1882, and is buried in the Old Post Cemetery at Fort Meade.
I am trying to make a biography on Olans, as he was one of only two Norwegians participating at Little Bighorn. If anybody knows anything whatsoever about Olans, I would be very happy if you let me know. Any scrap of a fragment of information about him will help me build a better picture of his interesting life.
the battle monument place...i think they have a great deal of information on those that were involved in the battle...i went through it once many years ago and it was very intersting...i'm sure there is a web site and a way to contact them...
Thanks a lot - I really appreciate that. I was actually looking for response from real living relatives - battlefields and vital records and military archives have a lot of history about these guys, but they do not have any genealogy up to present day leading to living relatives. That's why I was trying to get a response from one, if they exist.
