Hi,
Are they still active missile silos in West South Dakota? If so, where are
they?
A friend of mine tells me they are all long gone.
Thanks

They have all been decommissioned but there is one that has been turned into a tourist attraction near the Badlands/Black Hills area that you can visit....

Actually, it's a National Historical Park...better than "tourist attraction." I would actually like to go there, since those silos were the reason I got to grow up here. My dad was a Minuteman mechanic. I believe the silo they used to make this park is the very one my dad fell down - from the top to the bottom! I told him I thought they should put a sign there commemerating the fact that he actually survived! (All he managed to do was break his leg!)

Ok, I'm not 'technically' right calling it a tourist attraction, but it is one, just like Custer State park, Mount Rushmore National Park......

Minuteman Missile National Historic Site (U.S. National Park Service)

Changed the link - was looking at both, and not paying attention to which one I copied! Sorry about that!

It's between Wall and Kadoka - about an hour east of Rapid.

The silos are there. The missiles have been changed out, but the silos are still there.

Many were sold to interesting parties. I guess it's kind of nice to have a 9 story home, built in the ground. Saves on utility costs. hahaha

But many are still there. Still setting out in the middle of nowhere. Still active, still ready to go.

They are making sure that you are safe.
