The obvious 3 choices are Djokovic, Federer, and Murray for obvious reasons.
The fourth one would be Nadal, IF his knee(s) gets better. What if he doesn't? Who will be the MOST LIKELY to win a Grand Slam other than the three above?
A) Del Potro - he won a grand slam before and chances are he can do it again.
B) Tsonga - he had VERY close matches with the current top players in the last year. If he improves his consistency and get a little lucky, he can win a Grand Slam.
C) Ferrer - he is the highest ranked player other than the current top 4 for a reason. He is also the most consistent player besides the top 4.
D) Berdych - He has what it takes to beat top players, including Federer, on multiple times.
If I had to pick right now...I would say that next year will look like this:
Australian: Novak over Federer
French: Nadal over Federer
Wimbledon: Federer over Nadal
US Open: Nadal over Federer
I think Nadal will be back and will be right back up at the top. The French is his for the taking and I think he will challenge hard for Wimbledon as well, but I would really like to see Roger win that again. I don't see Murray winning again next season. He'll be near the top in the competitions (semis and quarters) but I don't think he'll even make a final next year. It'll be back to dominance of the Big 3 and they will face off against each other in all 4 finals.

Well, for Murray, he has beaten Djokovic and Federer in 5 sets (Olympic and US Open) and he has also been unbeatable in the last two grand slams (other than by Federer).
I think Murray is going to remain hot throughout 2013. I think Tsonga is someone to watch though. Nice list!
I think I agree with you. Murray seems to have proven something already with a win against Federer at the Olympic and now win over Djokovic at US Open, not to mention that these are his oppoents' favorite surfaces.
I think there is something to Tsonga, other than the fact that he is in the top 6.
I do agree that if someone other than the Big 4 are going to win a major...my money would be on Tsonga. If he can put together a nice run and get some easy matchups, I could see him taking out one of the Big 4 and lifting a trophy.
But, I do think we're going to return to dominance by the Big 3 next year, unfortunately. I like Murray, but I think next year we'll see a resurgence from Nadal and Murray will be shut out.

What you're saying is that Murray can beat Federer and Djokovic, but not Nadal?
I'm thinking that Murray could come through with either the Aussie Open or U.S Open(again). Whatever mental hurdles he had before should have been erased with his U.S open victory on Sunday. Otherwise, assuming no health issues, the usual suspects should come through.

No, what I'm saying is that Murray will get beat by the Big 3 next year and not return to the top of the heap. Just because he beat Federer and Djokovic in a final doesn't mean that he will do so in every final from now on. I just think that the Big 3 are going to return hungrier than ever next season and dominate the Majors.

I did not say he will beat them in EVERY final. I just think that since he beat Djokovic and Federer in their respective favorite surfaces, he will at least has as good of a chance as them to win Grand Slams next year.
What you're saying is that there is a top tier of 3 and Murray is not in it, but he is in a second tier. How can you not put him there after he beat 2/3 of them in the last 5 set finals?
