No just the player jumping so that his hand is above the rim of the basket when he slams the ball down for the dunk. It was outlawed in college level basketball for awhile.
The play itself can be routine or spectacular. However due to basketball adding three points awarded for long distance shooting and changing the foul rules ,"the Jordan rules" get you thrown out for a couple of games, for an example thus making it easier for the ever larger players to slam dunk a "slam dunk" isn't what it was for earlier generations.
For a play that can be the most spectacular highlight at times and just a routine point but still brings the crowd up the first thing an American would think of is the home run in baseball. Or just about any score in games without the number of scoring plays as basketball.

In order to actually dunk you hand most be above rim. I think you are thinking of elbow or shoulders perhaps.
In soccer has to be a bicycle kick goal, but that does not happen nearly as much or as easy as slam dunk.
In gridiron football has to be special teams return for TD, but that too does not happen as often or easily as slam dunk. Or could be hail mary TD
In Hockey probably a breakaway goal, or a slap shot goal.
Baseball of course is the home run
Tennis has to an Ace or a drop shot
In combat sports is the knockout, or knockdown, or submission
Dont know about Rugby or Aussie rules
Football, I think, would be devastating hits. A return TD, while awesome, doesn't really arouse much awe in the opposing team and its fans. A big hit, however, makes everyone jump to their feet no matter which team they're rooting for.

Thanks for explaining, being English I'm not too clued up on basketball so excuse me if this is a daft question but isn't a long distance score more impressive than this? Surely you can't miss from a slam dunk whereas you gotta be a lot more accurate scoring from far out?
