In other countries is much worse,
in most countries, soccer tournaments don't have a playoff, only a regular season.
At the end of the season, 2 teams might be fighting for the championship and have to play against teams that have nothing to win/lose.
Somehow.... some teams bust their a.. off, even though they have nothing to win ($$$)

They play to avoid relegation or to earn births in tournaments.

Even though the NFL probably didn't encourage it at all, it sounds like the Packers, throwing the game or at least playing 1/2 hearted since, if they beat the Vikings in that final game at home last season (and the Vikings absolutely sucked in Green Bay for many seasons until that game), they would have faced the Seahawks, instead of the very inferior Redskins, even if it meant opening on the road.
You didn't provide a single convincing piece of evidence..
Good point.
Personally, I'm open to the possibility of league sponsored conspiracies to rig games.. but OP, show us some evidence.
A former league official who says he engineered outcomes,.. Referees who will come forward with evidence that they were paid by superiors to ignore penalties, tape recorded conversations, etc. Or someone inside Disney who the OP believes helped rig the Hawks-Broncos Super Bowl..
It's slanderous to simply see a bad call, & then indict league leadership in a grand, dishonest conspiracy. Give us something more than circumstantial, personal observation. I'm definitely willing to listen..

Crying "its fixed" is as old in sports as fans who do not like the outcomes.
The fight over the Rogers Centre being closed for the playoffs last year was made into a big conspiracy theory by fans that wanted it open, but it was really about the mechanicals of the dome being unreliable in colder temperatures, and the lack of draining at the Rogers Centre in the event of rain. If left open, and it rained, they may not have been able to get it closed... and that would have been far more troublesome than the typical cold rain delay in Detroit or Chicago.
Really, if the fans of Toronto prefer outdoor baseball, they should push for a new outdoor ballpark. I have seen a number of games in the Rogers Centre, and it is not really a good place to catch a game. The round, trashcan like multi use astroturf stadium was already on it's way out when they built that place. They have now gotten their money's worth. Time to move on. Jays fans deserve a truly great, baseball only ballpark!
Besides, who is to say that "American Advertisers" would prefer the Royals over the Jays? Are we really to assume the league would fix the ALCS to get a small market team(2 million people in metro KC) like the Royals in over the Blue Jays, who not only are a big market team (6 million in Toronto metro, 7th largest market in North America, and also carries with it TV interest in all of Canada, a country of 35 million)? I suspect the Mets vs the Blue Jays (or Cubs vs Jays had the Cubs won the NLCS) would have been a ratings bonanza for baseball. It's not like the Royals have a huge national following outside of the KC area.
