For the following counties (Greene, Christian, Polk, Webster, Douglas, Lawrence and Dade), may I have links that would define the number of acre(s) required per horse, please?

This is for giving me an idea of what number of acres I should look for living outside of Springfield, MO.
We are looking into upwards of 40 minutes commute time from Springfield, MO.

Thanx!
Debbie

Hi Debbie. I will be curious to see if you are given any links as well but I suspect you will only have to worry about those counties with planning and zoning laws that might address the subject. I am not aware of any state law in Missouri requiring set acreage for horses.

Greene and Christian Counties from your list have planning and zoning, Webster and Dallas Counties do not. Not sure about the other counties, but I added Dallas because it would fall within your 40 minutes drive time.

So if you are researching a possible move to Missouri, your hay burners are welcome.

Thank you, sir!

No, I’ve yet to find nor received any links.

My hubby is a Project Engineer (structural/civil) and will be transferred to a new office in Springfield, MO.

This means we will be moving to nearby Springfield, MO after the holidays 2015.

Thanx!
Debbie

The USDA has a Farm Service Agency in every county; they would likely be able to give you an answer. See USDA Service Center Locator

As mentioned above, only Greene and Christian counties have zoning that might be an issue. Greene County Zoning: Planning and Zoning Greene County, Missouri . Christian County Zoning: Christian County, Mo
