About a year ago I actually set out on a quest to find the best soft-serve vanilla "ice-cream" in Springfield. It was a grueling, thankless task but someone had to do it.

The contenders, as I recall, included Andy's, Braum's, Culver's, McDonald's, Burger King, Sonic, Dairy Queen, Wendy's Frosty, and probably some others I have forgotten. I did not try Freddy's for some reason or another. This was a process that took some weeks, but when I put my hand to the plow I let nothing stop me.

I was going for two winners - the best for the price, and the best overall. In the end it was not even close - the Braum's frozen yogurt waffle cone is far and away my favorite. As they have dropped the price to $1.00 it is a cinch for best at the price as well.

So now when I want the best tasting frozen dairy treats in the Springfield market I... go home and have either Turkey Hill All Natural or Blue Bell ice cream.

I chose Andy's. It's pricey but it seems to be more fresh and creamy.
