I moved into STL 2 months back and got limited clothes with me. So, need to buy a few. I went to Galleria and apart from a few stores, most seemed lil expensive. I am mostly looking for:

1.) Clothes that I can wear at home and can keep me warm (As cheap as possible)
2.) Winter jackets/ Heavy clothing that can keep me warm and I can wear outside. (Moderately priced)

Any suggestions on where I should get them from?

Avalon Exchange in the Loop. It's about the same price you'd pay for clearance stuff at Target but it's gently used, but also much more stylish and better brands. It's sort of a hipster place. You can find really cool stuff there.

And, of course, there's Goodwills and Plato's Closets throughout the metro area, but those are more hit-and-miss.

You might check out places like Burlington Coat Factory and TJ Maxx and Old Navy usually has plenty of inexpensive lounging around the house kind of stuff.

If you were at the Galleria, you should have crossed Clayton Road and visited the ScholarShop. They are a resale shop but they have much nicer used clothes than your typical Goodwill, but their parking lot is tiny. Also in the area (just further south Brentwood Blvd by Whole Foods) is the Nordstrom Rack which can have some pretty good deals.

Rag-o-Rama in the loop has some cool stuff.

Marshalls, Gordmans and Kohls are also fairly cheap.

A ROSS Dress for Less is going to be opening up soon on W. Florissant Ave just north of I-270! There is one here in NC where I live and the bargains are GREAT! I'm not exactly sure when their open date is, but I would definitely check it out if I were you

Also, I was recently in the Salvation Army Store on Lindbergh (in Florissant) and their collection seems to be pretty extensive and affordable. I wasn't looking for clothes though when I went there so I only had a quick browse of their selection.

Hope that helps! Good Luck to you and Stay Warm!

The one in Florissant must not be opening for awhile since its not on their website yet. There is a Ross that opened up a few months ago in Chesterfield and another one in Fairview Heights IL. Two more are opening up in a week or two in Ballwin and Sunset Hills. Since they seem to be opening up all the stores around here in pairs I bet the Florissant one is opening in the Spring along with the Maplewood location.
