I take it for Energy and Calming and use it in my sleep combo. Just talking to another person about her issues, I suggested Inositol and found this overview with the charts and thought I'd share it here. And also since some are talking about cholesterol and statins.

What I don't understand about inositol is that it says that choline + inositol = lecithin. I used to take lecithin, can't even remember what for. Probably to help digest fats as that's long been a big problem for me. Lecithin emulsifies fats.

I've been taking inositol to help (a little) with sleep. It does only help a little bit, maybe helps me to dream or something.

So my question would be--is it better to take inositol alone, choline AND inositol, or lecithin?

This subject has always confused me and doctors never seem to know. I want to digest fats (a bile supplement does help A LOT) and I want to sleep.

I've taken Inositol only 500mg caps and have taken the combo choline/inositol which I've read are both needed. I normally keep both on hand but only have Inositol on hand now. When I have both on hand, I alternate them.

I've taken Sunflower Lecithin and about to finish the bottle now...Lec i thin...helps to burn fats...I'm not sure about that though. Doctors can't help on this...it's a hit and miss for us to try. I sleep good and take 1000mg Inositol in the evening, 500mg about 7:30 and then 500mg when I hit the pillow. I sleep good, but wake up tired and like run over by a truck....and for me, it could be low morning cortisol which I believe to be true and chronic body pain I live with. But I sleep, so I keep doing what I do...and deal with the morning.

I did a little test last night and didn't take the 500mg Inositol right before bed, but instead took a Lemon Balm and omg, woke about 2-3AM in a lot of stiff pain, so I took an Inositol and got back to sleep and felt better. So the 1000mg at least daily is what my body works best with.

Reading the charts again, people who drink coffee and I drink 2 cups daily, lose this nutrient.

I have a friend who knows a lot about alternative/holistic healing but not much about Inositol. She ended up in the ER last year due to a panic attack and now on 6-7 heart drugs. I was talking to her about Inositol and just sent her this link.

INOSITOL Depression and Anxiety Supplement Reviews

I had a panic attack back in 2005 and sent home from ER with a benzo and know years later know about that link and alzheimers...so no more benzo for this gal.
