Good afternoon everyone,

My name is Andrew and I'm moving to Tampa July 31st, I will be renting a house (East Louisiana Ave on the east side of the highwat), and I was wondering if anyone knows about that block/area? Does anyone know if its a decent/safe area?

I don't have children and I will be commuting to Brandon for work (Verizon Wireles). Its just going to be me and my two german shepherds. Nervous about starting new, not to mention doing it alone. Excited to meet new people. Thank you so much for your time, any help would be appreciated!!!!

Well... for starters it's not wise to post your street address on a messageboard...

In my past experiences, I haven't found that to be a bad area but not the best one in the city.. good access to interstates and major artery roads.. I think you'll be fine.

Of course, I haven't lived there since 2001.

That area is part of Seminole Heights, which has been under transition for a decade or so. It's not dangerous, but certain blocks will still be a little gritty. Some of the houses facing or right up against the interstate may be seedier than ones further in the block, just because of land value and whatnot. The main north-south street in that area is Nebraska, which has its fair share of colorful characters. You can go east a few more blocks, but once the closer you get to about 15th Street, the more crime you will encounter.

Lots of young people are moving into Seminole Heights. You'll find some new restaurants and a few stores on Florida Avenue, which is a major north-south street just west of 275. Check out the Taco Bus on Hillsborough and Nebraska. Good luck.

North Taliaferro Ave and East Louisiana ave are the cross streets. Its the second house in from the highway, and does not face the highway. Anyone know this area?
