MortonR, your right wondering what the extra $500 is for. but in real life if this is from some small town area you can bet there are connections it's a uphill battle when you are on thier ground.

Of course, I can't give you legal advice, so this is for entertainment value only....

If the Alabama small claims court has jurisdiction over your husband (I'm thinking they might since he did business with someone there), then the guy can get a judgment there. Although that might sound like a big deal, Florida has a process for executing foreign (from other states) judgments. It's not hard to do. Full faith and credit clause and all that stuff.

This is the part I did not understand. Is there a delivery confirmation that you can get? At least you can try to convince the judge that the package was indeed delivered. Now the question becomes if somebody else took it or not.

Just my gut says that indeed this guy may not get it. Somebody who was so quick to refund you because you were not satisfied even without getting their item back sounds like a good person to me. How was the rating on ebay of this person? If it appears that the guy is honest and didn't get back his item, I would just settle with him than going all the way to Alabama (transport cost) and still maylose.

Just "talk" to the person and settle it.

Good luck

I don't think this thread belongs on the "Tampa" forum.

This subject will at least warn others to sent everything by delivering it at the post office and making sure it gets scanned.

The other day I was entertaining asking Keeper to create a SUB-Forum to the Tampa Bay one that would allow us to HAVE discussions about other things....like "who's you plumber"...or "where can I find so and so in Tampa"....because that way we can stop mixing the relocation info with "local" stuff.

This post didn't even mention Tampa for example...it mentioned "Florida"! so I think it should be moved to the "Florida forum"...

A sub forum though would be great for us "locals" to find things that may otherwise be harder to find....and have less Google sorting to do.

If the OP bought tracking and delivery confirmation, then the receipt would have the tracking number and the clerk would clearly point this out (unless only the clerks at my post office do this) and they would tell you to go their website and track your package.

I send a lot of packages and always use the tracking/delivery confirmation and have NEVER had a package not scanned.

If the package really wasn't scanned, then the OP needs to head to the Post Office and talk the Post Master.

The OP needs to show up in court. If not, their credit report gets hit with a judgement. ouch.

Think this is pertinent to those of us in FLA.

I am confused, if your husband used an Ebay shipping notice, there is a Delivery/Tracking number automatically entered on the shipping label. While it is true that the packages are usually not scanned while they are enroute; they are scanned when they are delivered. He needs to reprint the shipping label; identify the tracking # (typically 16 digits starting with a "9") and then go to USPS Track and Confirm, enter that number and look at the result. Hopefully (1) the result is still available and (2) it confirms "something" you shipped was delivered which could tip the case back in your direction.
