I plan on moving to one of the beaches of St. Petersburg. Compared to Southeast Fl, I think it's great that I'm able to find a number of studio options within my price range which cuts off at 750 for a studio.

So, that's the dilemma. Too many options! I've found properties available on Treasure Island, St. Pete Beach, Madeira Beach and Redington Shores all within my price range! I actually have no idea which beach location is best for me and my lifestyle. Thanks in advance for any help you could offer. A bit about what Im looking for is below.

beach near nightlife, restuarants, busy/popular is okay
Path/area for jogging near beach
Public transportation/trolley accessible
I don't fish
nice people/ diverse /alternative lifestyles okay
laid back
urbanized beach front, don't wanna cross a rain forest to get there lol
more palm trees the better
sidewalks
no children/ 28 years old.

Leaving out CLearwater Beach as it seems you are concnetrating south

beach near nightlife, restuarants, busy/popular is okay - St. Pete Beach (SPB), Treasure Island (TI), Mad Beach (TI and SPB are close enough to dwontwon St. Pete as well)

Path/area for jogging near beach - SPB

Public transportation/trolley accessible - TI, SPB, MB

I don't fish - Your loss- amazing fishing here

nice people/ diverse /alternative lifestyles okay - all
laid back - all

urbanized beach front, don't wanna cross a rain forest to get there lol - SPB to Redington

sidewalks- all

Another option, though a bay beachfront, is GUlfport, which suits a number of your categories.

The southern end of Madeira beach is probably the liveliest area with the "Johns Pass" community.
Jogging? isnt that what the beach is for?
Public transit? i've never needed it but i assume theres a bus that goes up and down Gulf Blvd.
If you dont fish, you can watch others try their luck from bridges.piers or right off the beach.

If it were me, I would go with St. Pete Beach or Treasure Island. I believe you can catch a trolley from there to downtown pretty easily. Plus, these are pretty lively areas. They're all good choices, though.

The beach communities get very, very old when it's not beach season (about half the year). There are some younger service industry types who live at the beach full time, but there isn't any robust young professional community at the beach. It is active during beach season, but hard to make lasting friendships/relationships since all the 20-somethings leave after a few days; though a lot of them are from St. Pete or Tampa, so if you're willing to commute to friends, you can make it work. I have some friends who drove from their apartment at the beach to downtown St. Pete a few nights/week to hang out, so I guess it's possible to make it work (but probably not if you plan to rely on public transportation...). We (married, no kids) tried out the beach when we moved here (in our late 20s), and were very happy to move to St. Pete, where people our age live. I'd love to move back to the beach when we're much older, but wouldn't recommend it to a 28 year old.

The problem with beaches for many is although they make for great postcard pics theres really not much to do at the beach other than sit on your butt and look at water,a pastime that loses its novelty factor fairly rapidly for many full time Florida residents, that said you may want to avail yourself of cheaper lodgings not so close to the beach and see how frequently your trips to the beach are after a year or so by which time you'll have a much better knowledge of precisely which beach and where on that beach you want to live assuming that you still are wanting to live at the beach..
PS. living in Florida without a car will prove to be a major inconvenience.

Hey,

Treasure Island is nice, has some decent bars, good fishing if you are into that, boating, parasailing, etc. Also, there are a lot of small Mom and Pop restaraunts that are good. Beach bars are always fun, while St. Petersburg, about 20 mins away, is a very cool small city that has lots to do. Good luck!!

Treasure Island is probably a good bet, it's directly west of St. Pete and I think there's a bus that runs all the way from T.I., down Central, all the way to the bay.

Given all of your criteria I would say St Pete Beach is best, and yet close enough to downtown St Pete's amenities also.
