I had to show my husband so he wouldn't think I was crazy, but last night I turned on the outside light and a big bug flew into the screen door. It bounced off the door and then onto the patio table. I swear it had wings and webs feet. It waddled a big like a salamander and then the thing took off again and landed on the ground. I had my husband look and he had no clue what it was. I said it's some sort of lizard bug and he could see it had webbed feet too.

What on earth is it? I do not have a picture but I'd say it was maybe an inch to 1 1/2 inches long, wings on top or the side, salamander style body but cubby and webbed feet.

Weird!

Sounds interesting! I googled "flying lizard" and apparently such a thing exists in Florida, though I have never seen one. Probably what it was!.

hmm I tried to google this, and came up with photoes of actual lizards, not with wings, but webbing like a flying squirrel that allows them to glide. I could find nothing on a tiny (1-1/12 inch) lizard looking bug! Can someone link me the site where you saw info on this creature on the internet?. Im super curious.

Me too! I was unable to find anything either. Though, when searching for "flying lizard bug", I did come across a You Tube video of a poor little lizard that landed on a moving vehicle's windshield. He was hanging on for dear life! lol

I know it's a stretch, but any chance it was a tree frog? THey can leap really far, almost seeming like they are flying. It's a bit cold for them right now. I just can't think what else it could be.

I had a HUGE dragonfly-looking thing fly into my home over the weekend. It was very large and sounds like what you describe, except the body didin't appear slimy like a salamander or lizard.

However, it was huge...wingspan probably 6-7" and was very hard to catch. My dog was trying to leap out of the air and grab it while I was swinging with a broom. I eventually killed and flushed...didn't search further.

Maybe it was one of those big mosquitoes we are supposed to be seeing soon that happened to be carrying an anole lizard?
