What a shame.

(I am a Spoto, by the way. Bob is my father's cousin.)

I only ate at CK's once a year or so ago. But I thought then it needed to be totally gutted and redone or closed. I'm kind of bummed that closing it was picked. I enjoyed the airport views.

According to the article, the hotel is going to use the CK's space for banquets and meetings. Cha-ching. That's big business now, especially on the corporate side. One of our clients has booked conference room space there numerous times and it's not cheap by any means. In fact I recall they had to reschedule one time because all of the conference rooms were booked solid.

It's always sad seeing landmark places close, numerous people recommended the place to me and I never got to eat there. I'm kicking myself because I passed on a chance to go after our meetings there one day because I was tired and just wanted to go home.

The sad part is that so many people that lived in the area and enjoyed places like CK's are no longer in the area, either via death or relocation, there's no one there that's left to fight for places like CK's because a majority of the people are from somewhere else and it has no meaning to them!

Very true. Happens all the time, and in pretty much every other metropolitan area. Some of my favorite places up north met the same fate because their clientele died off, neighborhood demographics changed and people relocated, etc.
