The ironic thing is that I don't see the hazards on when they should be - ie when traffic comes to a complete stop on the interstate. Blows my mind when I'm driving 65 mph down the interstate and come to a complete halt because of an accident or a heavy traffic jam - and the guy in front never put on his hazards to alert me that everything has come to a halt.

I normally dont like to post comments comparing Germany to USA for reasons I wont go into BUT in this case I will simply make the comment that this is the rule when on the autobahn that I wish (among other practices) was followed in the USA, if you are slowing down on the interstate you turn on your flashers until the person behind you turns theirs on, like passing a relay torch, love it.

Germans have driving down to a science. You actually have to show you're competent to drive - with a formal school, from my understanding - before allowed to drive. Another rule I like over there is that the left lane is used for passing and there's no passing from the right. But now that I've learned that's not the case here - I love the right hand lane and stay in it, pass in it, and cruise in it for my travels because it seems no one likes the right hand lane on interstates roadways.

How is that even remotely safe? Florida must have the most idiots per capita of any other state.
While I appreciate that others think that turning on their 4-way flashers in the rain id s matter of safety, the use of flashers is for stopped or disabled vehicles only.

It is against the law in Florida. I never use my four way flashers when driving. In rain, I gauge my speed based on conditions.

The right hand lane has the least traffic. It seems that once some are out in the passing lanes, they stay there as if it is their lane alone. I make excellent time staying over to the right except to pass.

All I can say is there is a law in place and people still want to circumvent it and do as they please. that just shows you more and more of the lack of respect by our society, and the me, myself, n I, mentality. I do not agree with some laws, but obey them until they change.

It's done everywhere but it is illegal and dangerous.
