I'm in my 20s I don't think I want to be set on just moving to Orlando, but I have no other ideas of what cities would be suitable for my lifestyle right now. I'm single, not a party girl, I'm of Christian Faith, by the time I move during Spring 15 will be a college grad but will be heading back in the fall. I've been looking at Winter Haven too. Idk if its mainly for retired or not. I prefer a place where the medical field job opportunities are plentiful in options. I have an offer for work in Orlando, but I just don't want to limit myself being that this will be such a huge transition for me. HELP! Any info about surrounding cities you have PLEASE drop below!!!

pretty vague question there - yes, we have several hospitals, doctors' offices, clinics in the area including St Petersburg....if you're interested in teaching hospitals, there's USF area (Haley VA needs good nurses), Tampa General, I think St Pete's Bayfront might be a teaching facility as well.....former RN here and I always like to be around the latest, research-based institutions where I was always learning stuff......you have to look at your career plans in your field, where you want to be in 5-10 yrs, if you want to pursue your Masters (assuming you're earning a Bachelors).....do you like being near water/beaches, what are your hobbies to balance work? Bradenton and Sarasota also have hospitals as well. Of course, you'll probably be looking at older patients wherever you go in the area due to our demographics.

Awesome info! Thanks so much! I too enjoy teaching facilities. I dont mind the elderly. Its either them or pediatrics I'm veering more towards anyway for the next 2-5 years. I really dont have many hobbies lol since I havent had much time to do anything. So just looking for some new experiences I can enjoy as far as that goes. But I do love the beach! I would like a town where there are people close to my age group 25-35 that live in the area so i can at least socialize from time to time. But thankyou. I just want to go somewhere safe and not deadend for growth opportunities in my career and/or social life!

I moved to Orlando about four years ago as a 25-year old single woman from the Midwest. For the most part, I loved it (but it was a big culture shock). If you want to be around people your own age, I would try getting close to a larger city. I think Winter Haven may have a lot of retirees and not too many younger single people. What I liked about Orlando was the theme parks, of course. When I was younger, I wanted nothing more than to come to FL and go to Disney. Then I got an annual pass and spent lots of time there. The other good thing about Orlando is that you are close to the East Coast beaches, and the West Coast beaches aren't too far away either. So it's a win-win situation. I found it very easy to get involved in church activities too. There were a lot of people my age who were single, looking to have fun in non-party environments. The other good thing about larger cities is that if you don't mesh well with one group, there's usually always going to be another group to try out.

I just moved to St. Pete Beach a few months ago. It's nice...different vibe, more laid-back than Orlando. There are a lot of young people here too. Churches to explore. Meetup groups to check out. I'm in the medical field too (not a nurse), and it seems like there are good opportunities no matter where you decide to move.

Wow!!! Thankyou soooo much you have no idea how much your post has helped! Orlando seems to be in the ranking for the final destination because of the opportunities career wise and socially. And there seems to be some great churches there so I believe Tampa may be officially out of the running until the next time! Thanks again!!!
