I don't need a home phone or cable TV. Just internet. I know some folks who get Brighthouse for $35/month, but BH quoted me $60 for the lowest speed, cheapest deal they have. When I asked how others get it for $35, they said there are bulk group areas that can get it for cheaper but my address isn't in one of those areas. I'm moving close to 30th Ave and 5th St N in St. Pete 33704. Has anyone heard of this bulk/non-bulk scenario before? Do you live in this St. Pete area and use BH or something else? I tried Verizon and AT&T and they apparently do not have internet service for that zip code/address. I give up. I guess it's BH or nothing? It's not that I can't pay $60, but it's frustrating that others can get it for cheaper. And the BH threads on here aren't very flattering.

Hi! We use Verizon Fios and it is expensive. It runs about $65 a month and the bill increases very often...customer service is crap as well. I will say that it is very good fast wifi with very few outages. My Netflix runs slower now because of some new legislation..I believe they are choking the speed for Netflix. We can't continue due to the expense and due to numerous price increases. We are going to move to Wow in a few months. Have you contacted them?

Is that $65 all-in, or is it $75-80 with the additional taxes? I am not a non-profit entity or a church and have to pay taxes.

I hadn't heard of Wow, so I'll look into them. Thank you! Btw, for me the $60 BH quote was pre-tax. Anyone know of other alternatives to Brighthouse?

Try this:

Bright House Networks has discounts on digital bundles. | Cable TV | Home Phone | Fast Internet

We did something similar when we were living in Gulfport. I was skeptical because it wasn't technically through Brighthouse's website but it worked just fine. It's $29.99+tax for 6 months. I think ours jumped to $55 including tax after the promo period.

Full disclosure: I hate BH and will never go back after having Fios.

Does anyone use Earthlink? 4G Wireless – At Home Up to 3.0Mbps $34.95/month for 5GB of monthly data. I don't think I've ever heard of a data limit for home internet before.

BHN standard internet and phone bundle is $54 according to what I see online. I know you said you don't need the phone but sometimes a bundle is cheaper... The speed is 10MB vs 3MB, and you wouldn't have to worry about a 5GB usage cap. Wireless providers have usage caps, even for the products they market as for "home" use.

BHN charges a modem rental fee too, so add $4 to what. Then add taxes, so it'll be over $60.

I am "settling" for Brighthouse myself, after having FIOS for over 7 years.

But, I moved to an area that's no served by Verizon and AT&T only offers slow DSL.

The bundle is never cheaper if you include phone. The local, state and federal taxes and other strange fees for the phone line more than make up for any "savings". Get a MagicJack for $150 less a year than adding a phone line.

You're 100% right. I forgot all about the taxes because I dropped my BHN phone service and bought an Ooma instead, because of the continuing rise of the modem rental fee.

$89 per month for Verizon FiOs for the fastest Internet.

Oh yeah, it also includes TV and phone, but you don't need to use them...
