Didn't he have a daughter as well? I think she'd qualify as being the ultimate victim of this unfortunate situation.
Regarding the wife, I get Spring Hillian's point. Maybe the words chosen weren't the best, but this seems to illustrate a big problem today - focus on the words versus the actual meaning/facts...
Also, I can't help but think that the reason she got shot in the hand was because she was holding her husband back. That's just my opinion. We should learn more come January when this gets hashed out in the courtroom instead of the meaningless court of public opinion.

I still am not getting how it's ok to denigrate Olson's wife...everyone agrees that the two men involved made poor choices...whatever "side" you are on...but Olson's "perky little wife" was both injured and witness to her husband's death...if anyone should be ashamed it's the poster who made this statement...don't you see the difference? You are entitled to your opinion of Olson as others can opine on Reeves...where it becomes outrageous is when you minimize a young wife who had no part in this confrontation...
