New Winn-Dixie Fuel Program....Doesn't Look Nearly as Good as Fuel Perks (buying)

The new program is called Plenti and it's a point system, not a direct xx cents off per gallon.

I got in the habit of buying decent wines at WD that had lots of fuelperks...usually 15-20 cents off a gallon of gas for one 750ml bottle.

I would often pay as little as 5 cents a gallon when I filled up...literally under a buck for a fill-up!

The new point system doesn't seem to be nearly as generous, but I haven't quite figured it out yet.

Anyone have an opinion?

My opinion is it sucks. According to this article Winn-Dixie President/CEO said

Ian McLeod, president and CEO of Southeastern Grocers, said that consumer interest in the Fuel Perks program has waned since it was launched in 2009, in part because gas prices are now more than $1 a gallon less than they were a couple of years ago. Surveys showed that only two in 10 shoppers were using it, he said.

But a trial run in Harveys stores last fall showed that eight in 10 shoppers said they were interested in using Plenti, he said.

Not sure why price of gas would cause interest to wane, it's still lower $ per gallon. It used to be spend $200 and get 20 cents off per gallon (15 gallon fill-up saved $3.00) - plus bonuses like you mentioned could save even more. Now it's spend $200 and get $1.00 worth of Plenti points to spend.

I didn't do as good as you on savings, best I did was saving of $1.75 per gallon (along with TMobile sponsored program), gas was $1.89 and ended up paying 14 cents per gallon.

No, it doesn't. I am going to see how it goes though.

I understand that you can earn/spend points with any company that is affiliated with the Plenti program. In that case, I might be able to earn more points elsewhere that I can then use.

I don't buy much gasoline myself, because I have a company vehicle with a fleet fuel card. I probably put gas in my own car once a month. I'd usually earn enough to get like 50 cents to a dollar off with the old program.
