Unfortunately the herd seems to grows faster than it can thin itself.

I'm pretty sure locking up a parent, many of which are from single parent households, won't bring the cure you're looking for and probably will only make matters worse. It'll make you feel better, but these out of control kids will continue to be out of control and our overcrowded prisons condition will be only worse.

I don't have the answer, but proactive programs will probably get better results.

Pretty much, I believe with out using my friend google, 95% of what they protest ends up with a cop being found justified in his actions. So ya, I would say most if not all.

Article does not mention anything about parents so, I don't know if they are alive or missing from children's lives but I agree, parents play a huge role.

Let me play the devil's advocate.

How about blaming Platinum Plus Autos for not securing their vehicles ?

The two vehicles, a Chrysler Sebring and Ford Explorer, were stolen on Aug. 3 from Platinum Plus Autos in Clearwater.

With all the gang shootings and kids getting killed. We have gone 360 from getting tough on crime and putting the criminals in jail. To blaming the "GUNS" and asking the law abiding public and responsible gun owners to suffer more regulations after more regulations. So lets cut to the chase here and blame the "CARS" and ask our politicians to put more regulations on us buying new cars since its obvious we are the problem.

Agree, background check and 3 day mandatory wait on all passenger cars and trucks.
7 day wait, background check and fingerprints to purchase any commercial vehicle.

Who knows what peoples intentions are when they go buy a vehicle?

Silliest dang theory I've seen in a decade, maybe more.

This cop was found "justified in his actions." Things that make you go "hmm."

"If cars and knives are just as fatal as a gun, then why do you need a gun, given you already have a car and knives?"

I think the emphasis was meant to be 'even if', as in, in the absence of a parent (in jail) then a child is at a disadvantage (we can agree), and so it would be nice if another family member or members would be able to step in and help out...

Something like the Social Control Theory of crime... If it's not within the purview to commit or be influenced by crime, then crime won't be worth the effort or consequence.

Grandparents that have raised their kids, aunts and uncle and cousins with their own homes and families to take care of... Extended family members may already feel stretched financially and with their time. As far as those things go, I agree that proactive programs aided by the generosity of communities can help, but it's still no replacement for family invested in their own clan, so-to-speak.

It's a shame that the families of the three deceased teens weren't able, for whatever reason, to help guide their kids better... 14 and 16 and they had extensive criminal backgrounds already.
