A few trips to restaurants in Ybor. Are the restaurants still there? Good? Safe area? Thanks.
Yes.

No.

No.

Unless you're looking for drunken young adults or after hours street fights, Ybor City is not someplace I would be going.

Tampa needs more restaurants and could certainly use a district similar to Armands in Sarasota or an Atlantic Ave in Delray!

Hyde Park Village is adding a few restaurants, so that's probably your closest bet at the moment.

Depending on his and your definition of $*&^hole (), St. Pete may or may not also be (becoming) that...If your definition of $*&^hole includes leaning toward over-reaching, invasive liberal-progressive city policies, then St. Pete seems to be headed in that $*&^hole direction.

On the other hand, if you don't consider over-reaching, invasive liberal-progressive city policies to fall under the $*&^hole umbrella (and are perfectly OK with them), then it may just be up your alley.

Ybor isnt that bad. Yeah its a bit seedy, but its one of the few areas in Tampa with some character to it. It's not dangerous during the day. It's certainly not an overly dangerous area. Its not the South Bronx. Not a place I frequent often, but its definitely fun to check out every so often.

Tampa needs more independent restaurants, way too many corporate chains. Now if we could get a restaurant like "Boston on the beach" from Delray, that would be nice!

Unfortunately many indie restaurants in Tampa Bay do not make it. The chains tend to be more successful.

Yes it's a very common problem in this area. Restaurant-goers here are fickle and cheap.
